Her community involvement was not limited to East Menlo Park, but she also played a very important role in the acquisition of land from Bank of America and foundation of the Drew Medical Pharmacy, which is still open and located in East Palo Alto, CA. The time has come, the new Menlo Park Community Center, previously known as the Onetta Harris Community Center, is nearing completion and the City Council is asking the Community to give their public opinion on the naming of it. Please show your support in preserving the name, Onetta Harris Community Center, which has stood ground for over 40 years in Menlo Park.

Why preserve the name? Onetta  Harris is rich in history, represents the community and remains a pillar in the Menlo Park Community. She helped countless community members find jobs, housing, access resources, and helped create programs that contributed to the welfare of families all while working a full time job and raising 8 children of her own. Her love and passion for the community was rich and she gave everything she had to it. The City of Menlo Park recognized and respected her dedication to the community and in return, they dedicated the community center in her name allowing the community to continue honoring Onetta Harris after passing away. Let’s remind City Council to continue to share her legacy and the history of Menlo Park with the community and the generations to come.
